Being a vegetarian can cause problems when you are in vacation, specially if you choose to visit a very non vegetarian city type, as Prague.
Before leaving in vacation I made a small research on trip advisor to see where I can eat and I left with 4 -5 options. Two of them being vegetarian, the others indian.
I ddin’t have time to check the rest of my list because the 2 I found, Maitrea and Clear Head gave me everything I needed. The 2 restaurants are “sister” restaurants actually, both are in the Old City, one close the the Old City Square, one close to the Charles Bridge and their menu is very alike, with small differences. In case you want to go there, it’s very possible to need a reservation, only one time I had luck to eat without reservation, and not in the evening.
Clear Head is more tiny than Maitrea, Maitrea having 2 floors. And still, at dinner time – full.
What you can eat here? No meat at all! Great Food!!! The food taste was really good, they have a big menu for a veggie restaurant, with plenty of options. They have starters, main dishes, salads, pasta, cakes (raw and not raw).
What I like in particular – the small selection of raw food: raw spaghetti, Raw “cheesecake” with strawberry sauce -raw substitute for traditional cheesecake made with cashew nuts, walnuts, raisins, coconut butter and honey, raw chocolate cake.
At Maitrea I also found juices with super foods – spirulina, chorella and others.
Of course both restaurants have a lot of natural juices, guarana juices also, coffee, cafe late with soy milk and tea.
The cold and warm plates to share are very good and the soups are amazing. I tried the cauliflower with red lentils soup and also the pumpkin with carrot one.
Both restaurants are having the menu of the day which contains soup, main meal and water with a very good price , around 100 CZK. Otherwise, also the rest of the prices I think are good compared with the food in Prague.
And the best at last 🙂
