The fortified church of Biertan

I always loved the villages and simple life in nature. But I never saw villages so beautiful as the ones close to Sighisoara (Romania), not to mention the landscapes are so simple, but so wonderful.

If you are in the area of Sighisoara, make a small visit to Biertan. I would also recommend to stop the car in the way for at least one hour and lay on the grass.  Biertan is one of the most important Saxon villages with fortified churches in Transylvania, having been on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites since 1993. Biertan is known for its petrified church, which is on the hill and offers you a great view over the village and areas around.

There is also a restaurant before taking the stairs to the church. The restaurant is called Unglerus and offers also accommodation. I didn’t try it but it’s good to know you can eat something there if you’re hungry.
