Present ideas

Since this month we are celebrating the women..yeeey for us girls, I was thinking why is it so hard for man to buy a present? I see so many options and ideas, so many that I can split them on categories, budget, colors ..joking

Here are some ideas, in case you feel lost on 8th of March, her bityhay, her onomastic birthday, any kind of anniversary. But what you need to remember: if you can personalise the gift in any way, go for it. Women looks for attention and proofs they are unique. Impress her with something that has a meaning for you too, a present “made for her”, not for any women..

Welcome to Paradise in Phi Phi Island!

Bamboo Island

My definition of paradise until now is Phi Phi Island..and not just the island itself but also the surroundings.

While I was reading about Phi Phi, people on forums were suggesting to stay one night, maximum two. I choose 3 and still not enough. I would have stay 2 more. The island, or better to say, the part where I stayed (Tonsay village) is small. It’s a small labyrinth of shops, restaurants, bars, travel agencies and small hotels (b&b) caught between  2 beaches: one is the Pier (where the ferry is letting you and from where you are going into trips around the island and one on the other side, without big boats, only the ones called long tail boats.

The village is crowded all the day, but specially in the night, when everybody is coming from the trips or scuba diving. Even the ao loh dalam beach is small, durig day I was having the nice surprise to don’t see it very crowded. The water and sand have wonderful colors (which you cannot find it in Ao Nang beach). It’s a thin white beach, finishing with coco nut trees and some bars where you can stay and drink a fruit shake. I don;t know about you, but me I can stay some hours in such a paradise, it’s giving me a great positive energy.

Go maxi from the back, mini from the front..the dipped hem skirt

Not so new but definitely my last obsession even outside are still 0 degrees 😛

The dipped hem skirt or asymmetric skirt or whatever name..On my language: short in front and going to long in the back. The effect is really nice, specially if the skirt (or dress) is maxi on the back. You have a sexy touch from the front but also a romantic one from the movement of the dress.

How is Bangkok?

Street food in china town

Moving further with my story, we are heading to Bangkok.

I don’t know for you, but for me the name was sounding interesting, announcing a veeeery authentic experience. Reading more about Bangkok, I started to change a bit my view, but the plans were done and I said..if you go until Thailand, why not to try a short trip to Bangkok?

I choose 3 days for Bangkok and I decided my check list:a bit of history from old city (Grand Palace area), a bit of China from Chinatown, a bit of shopping from MBK and malls around.

The city is…crowded, smelly, humid, hot…Rush hour is at any hour 🙂

Romanian Valentines is Dragobete..happy Dragobete!

I would say not sometimes, but always...

Today in Romania we celebrate or we should celebrate Dragobete, the day of love. It’s the same idea of Valentines and even most of the people are celebrating Valentines day, there are enough taking a pick also to this day, like myself 😛

Looking around, I don’t see so many perfect couples as movies showed us should be. I see a lot of difficult relationships, problems, lack of understanding and communication..Maybe it’s the age, the society, the economic crisis, who knows..

But bottom line, despite all the bad or just ordinary moments, we all have those magic moments when we feel the one close to us is “home”, and we are happy. We are happy cause we feel understood, we feel complete, we feel loved and we love ourself.

So..happy Dragobete, maybe you will have a moment like this today!

3 days in the north of Thailand..Chiang Mai

Hello and welcome to my stories of Thailand. Today is for…Chiang Mai.

My first contact with Thailand was done in the north, with the wonderful Chiang Mai. It’s the only place in Thai where I felt the peace, maybe from the chill air 😛 (in the north expect to have chill evenings and mornings). It’s a tangled city, I had the sensation of a sort of labyrinth but also my orientation is a disaster. The surroundings are really wonderful, full of green and the good part is most of the trips are organized outside Chiang Mai.

From Travel Chapter..Thailand

My Itinerary

Hello,

I will start the blog with some useful information, in this case my experience in Asia. One year ago I decided to feed my soul with an exotic experience..Thailand. Yeeey yeeey!

Why Asia?

1. It’s one of the cheapest exotic destinations achievable from Europe.

2. It’s exooootic!

3. It’s faaaar!

4. Should have all: different culture, people, history, wonderful beaches, spa, interesting food, and the list can go on and on.

I should also define “my type” of vacation I wanted for Thailand, or “we” wanted cause we are two

  • A medium vacation, not to spend too much, but not the backpacker style (just not my type). So my accommodations had to be cozy, nice and not too expensive. 19 nights – 550 eurs/person
  • I wanted wonderful landscapes, nature
  • To stay not less than 3 weeks
  • To don’t take the standard route I see in the travel agencies: Bangkok-Pataya
  • To don’t eat for 3 weeks anything else than asian food
  • To combine visiting with chill and relax
  • To try new things: rafting, elephant riding, cooking classes, thai massage, asian food courts, chinatown, a bit of Travel and living feeling 😛
  • To loose hours and hours on those white sandy beaches and to check most of the things I liked on my google search about Thai..

So, step 1: I bought the tickets. Turkish plus Malaysia Airlines: Bucharest-Istanbul-Kuala Lumpur – 650 EURs (for when: January-February 2012). If you plan a trip to Thailand, don’t think you necessarily have to land in Thailand, you can also choose one of the destinations around (Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, etc) and from there take an Air Asia flight until Thai. And very important: hunt promotions of all air flight companies: Turkish, Malesian, Qatar, KLM, Air France…You can also get a ticket with 550 Eurs.

When to go is also an important question. You can choose between 3 seasons (rainy, dry, very hot and dry). I choose January-February to catch the good season (not rainy, not too hot). Plus: good weather, the wonderful sensation to leave Romania at minus 10 degrees for +30 . Minus: more expensive (the accommodation) and a bit more crowd I suppose compared with low seasons.

Step number 2: define my itinerary. So, I started to read forums, blogs, travel advisor and anything I found interesting. Conclusion: KL-Chiang Mai-Bangkok-Phi Phi-Ao Nang-KL. Internal flights: Air Asia (prices..around 50 Eurs per ticket). Why only the west coast? I decided it’s too much running for 3 weeks to arrive also on the other coast and after some reading my options were Phi Phi and Ao Nang.

  • Why Chiang Mai? If you get to Thai, why to don’t see as much as possible? It’s a nice city, in a nice location, like a fresh air. It’s full of temples, the landscapes are wonderful, it’s a very good place to get in contact with the elephant farms if you want this plus it’s cheaper than BK or south.
  • Why Bangkok? Here I had some doubts if I will like but I was hoping to find something very different from European culture, and I found..in China Town. The rest, I didn’t like so much.
  • Why Phi Phi? It’s sold as the most beautiful island in Thailand and it’s very possible to be. It’s the place I enjoyed the most in Thai.
  • Why Ao Nang? A lot of thinking what location to choose between Kata, Ko Lanta, Ao Nang..I wanted the most beautiful one, I was really searching for wonderful landscapes. Plus, I found a nice resort with wood bungalows, perfect to conclude my Thai trip.

Step number 3: book hotels. After hours and hours spent on reading comments on booking, agoda, trip advisor I accomplished my target. Two recommendations I have in this case: Centre Point Silom for Bangkok and Baan Habeebee Resort in Ao Nang. I will tell you more about it.

Next posts I will come with more information for each of the places I visited. Of  course, all my opinions are very subjective 😛
